The Association of Alaska Housing Authorities (AAHA) is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization whose membership includes the 14 Alaska Regional Housing Authorities and the Alaska Housing Finance Corporation.
AAHA is seeking an independent, self-motivated and organized Rural Housing Coordinator (RHC) located in Kotzebue or Utqiagvik. The Rural Housing Coordinator will work with communities and statewide partners to identify relevant community-based needs and potential solutions to address housing and homelessness within rural Alaskan communities. The RHC will: improve data collection regarding overcrowding and/or substandard living conditions; connect communities with funding opportunities to improve resources for low-income Alaskans or Alaskan families living in extreme overcrowding situations; and, document best practices of community/regional systems that can be shared/transferrable to other regions. The salary is negotiable and although the location of the position is flexible (Kotzebue or Utqiagvik) the position will include significant travel.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree is preferred; High School Diploma and a valid Alaska Driver's License is required. A minimum of five years of experience required, preferably in a community or tribal engagement/advocacy role. Applicants must have knowledge of community and regional structures in Rural Alaska and experience working with Alaska Native communities, cultures and customs.
